Introspective Hypnosis Explained: Past Lives, the Subconscious & Your Higher Self

Episode 17 | High Frequency Mind™ Podcast

What if the answers you've been searching for are already within you?

In Episode 17 of the High Frequency Mind Podcast, I sit down with Julianne Thon, a certified practitioner of Introspective and Transpersonal Hypnosis, to explore the subconscious mind, past lives, soul memory, the Higher Self, multidimensional consciousness, and the deeper origins of the patterns that can shape our human experience.

We explore a fascinating question: What if some fears, beliefs, emotional responses, and recurring patterns have origins beyond what the conscious mind remembers?

Julianne shares how Introspective Hypnosis approaches these questions by moving beneath the surface-level symptom and becoming curious about what may exist at its root.

What Is Introspective Hypnosis?

Introspective Hypnosis is an approach to hypnosis that explores the deeper origins of emotional experiences, beliefs, fears, and recurring patterns rather than focusing only on changing a presenting symptom.

A person may consciously understand that a fear is irrational or that a particular belief no longer serves them, yet still experience the same emotional response. That creates an important question: if the conscious mind understands something, why doesn't the pattern automatically disappear?

Within a hypnotic state, a person may encounter memories, emotions, imagery, perspectives, or associations that are not immediately accessible during ordinary conscious awareness. Some people describe material connected with childhood or prenatal experiences. Others report symbolic experiences, past lives, spiritual experiences, or perspectives they associate with the Higher Self.

How those experiences are interpreted is personal. The larger invitation is to become curious about what may exist beneath the pattern rather than assuming the surface explanation is the whole story.

How Does Hypnosis Explore the Subconscious Mind?

Our conscious thoughts are only part of what influences perception and response. Learned beliefs, associations, emotional memories, and conditioning can continue shaping how we interpret the present even when we are not consciously thinking about their origins.

This helps explain why someone can intellectually know they are safe while still experiencing fear, consciously desire a different relationship with money while repeatedly feeling scarcity, or understand a relationship pattern while continuing to recreate it.

Hypnosis offers one way of directing attention inward to explore the memories, emotions, beliefs, imagery, and associations connected with those experiences.

Rather than asking only, "How do I stop this?" Introspective Hypnosis introduces another question: "Where did this begin?"

Can Hypnosis Reveal Past Lives?

This is where our conversation moves into one of its most fascinating areas. Julianne and I discuss past lives, soul memory, simultaneous timelines, and the possibility that consciousness may extend beyond our current human experience.

People in hypnotic states sometimes report detailed scenes or experiences that they interpret as past lives. There are different ways to understand these experiences. A person may interpret them spiritually as memories associated with the soul, symbolically as material emerging from the subconscious, or simply remain curious without needing to define exactly what occurred.

In Julianne's approach, she does not decide in advance that a client needs to experience a past life. Instead, the session is allowed to unfold according to what arises for the individual.

The purpose of our discussion is not to prove a particular spiritual belief. It is to explore what these experiences may reveal to the person having them and what they raise about the nature of memory and consciousness.

Past Lives or Simultaneous Timelines?

One of the deeper questions we explore is whether the term "past life" fully describes these experiences at all. If consciousness exists beyond our ordinary perception of linear time, could experiences we call past lives represent simultaneous expressions of consciousness?

Our human experience is organized through past, present, and future. Whether consciousness itself experiences reality in precisely the same way remains an open philosophical question.

We do not try to force certainty around that question in this episode. We stay where many of the most interesting explorations of consciousness begin: curiosity.

The Higher Self, Inner Knowing & Consciousness

Another central theme is the relationship between the human mind and what many people call the Higher Self.

Within the High Frequency Mind™ philosophy and The Architecture of the Infinite Self, I describe the Infinite Self, or Higher Self, as our unique expression of Pure Awareness - the infinite consciousness from which everything arises.

The human experience contains conditioning, beliefs, memories, emotional responses, roles, and perceptions. Yet there is also the awareness capable of observing those experiences.

You experience your thoughts, but you are also the awareness capable of noticing them.

Recognizing that distinction can create space between awareness and conditioning. Hypnosis is one way people may explore the inner landscape; meditation, self-observation, intuitive awareness, and other states of consciousness offer different pathways.

The deeper question is: Who are you beneath everything you've learned to believe you are?

Do You Lose Control During Hypnosis?

One of the most persistent misconceptions about hypnosis comes from stage hypnosis. Therapeutic hypnosis is different.

As Julianne explains in our conversation, the client remains involved in the process. Hypnosis is not about another person taking possession of your mind or removing your free will. The practitioner guides the experience while the person having the experience remains central to what unfolds.

That distinction is especially important when exploring deeply personal material involving memories, emotions, subconscious beliefs, or spiritual experiences.

What Can Subconscious Patterns Teach Us?

Perhaps the most important part of this conversation is not whether every experience encountered during hypnosis can be objectively explained. It is the invitation to become more curious about ourselves.

  • Why does this situation activate me?
  • Where did this belief come from?
  • Why does the same pattern continue appearing?
  • What am I assuming to be true?
  • Is this inner knowing, or conditioning I have carried for years?
  • Who is the awareness noticing the pattern?

These questions create the possibility of observing conditioning rather than automatically identifying with it. Sometimes that shift in awareness changes the way we relate to the entire experience.
